Members of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra will be performing chamber music works at St. George's Church in Wismar on May 10. They will be performing one work each by Boccherini and Schubert.

"Schubert is inhumanly industrious. He has been writing an octet with the greatest zeal for a long time now. When you come to him during the day, he says 'hello, God, how are you? - 'Fine', and continues writing, after which you leave." It was not only astonishing to his friend Moritz von Schwind how Schubert was able to produce one masterpiece after another in rapid succession during the last years of his life. The new musical paths that the composer embarked on in 1824 with the composition of his great octet are the focus of this NDR program. It is completed by the performance of a virtuoso and playful string quintet by Luigi Boccherini, which was composed in Spain in 1775.
