Ornithologist Rainer Schwarz, supervisor of the local nature and bird sanctuary, takes you on a discovery tour of the Müritz.
The 415-hectare nature reserve "Grosser Schwerin and Steinhorn" is of supra-regional importance as a habitat for a large number of resting and breeding bird species. It consists of the two peninsulas of Grosser Schwerin and Steinhorn. Access to the Großer Schwerin is only permitted as part of guided hikes such as this one.
The area provides a habitat for many breeding bird species. Here you can still see dunlins, redshanks, curlews and other bird species in their natural habitat. Important breeding bird species include the greylag goose, mallard and gadwall, pond warbler and snipe. Other breeding birds include the reed bunting, yellow wagtail, skylark, great tit and white-tailed eagle. The importance of the protected area as a resting place for waterfowl has increased in recent decades.
The starting point for the hike will be communicated by the hotel after registration. Duration approx. 3 hours, price € 15 per person.
Please bring sturdy shoes.
