Immerse yourself in the inner sound of your voice - For participants with and without musical experience
Under the guidance of India-based Rudra Vina maestro Carsten Wicke, this introductory workshop offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the philosophy and practice of Nada Yoga. In addition to sound meditation and an introduction to the basics of Indian raga music, participants can experience the connection to universal sound with their own voice.
We are drawn to music because our whole being is music; our mind and our body, the nature in which we live, the nature that created us, everything that is beneath us and around us, everything is music. And we are close to all this music, we live and move and have our being in music. (Hazrat Inayat Khan)
Based in Calcutta, Carsten Wicke is today one of the most outstanding international Rudra Vina masters, whose music brings the almost lost sounds of Rudra Vina from the millennia-old tradition into the present.
The dhrupad played on the vina is North India's oldest classical music tradition still being practiced. Since its origins in the chanting of Vedic hymns, the human voice has been regarded as the most original and important instrument in dhrupad.
In addition to melodic and tonal aspects, elements of Nada Yoga are incorporated into the singing exercises. The workshop is therefore particularly suitable for participants who want to combine the relaxing elements of yoga with the sound of Indian music. Immerse yourself in the inspiring atmosphere and the sound of the most meditative form of Indian raga music. No previous musical knowledge is required.
