Maritime Museum dives into new special exhibition
More than 70% of the earth's surface is covered by the sea. These marine areas form the largest interconnected ecosystem in the world. The desire to penetrate the depths of the oceans is ancient. For centuries, man has been devising means of getting under water. But technically, he has only been able to explore these depths to a limited extent. For a long time, they were considered the seat of sea deities and the realm of legendary monsters. And the deep sea is still largely unexplored and mysterious.
In this new special exhibition, starting on May 13, 2022, we will present exciting stories and objects related to the discovery of the deep sea by man. Visitors can expect to see amazing creatures as well as adventurous expedition reports, but also an interactive station on modern research techniques.
Not to be missed, of course, are Jules Verne's fantastic descriptions of the mysterious depths from a time when they still took shape solely in the imagination of man. A model of his NAUTILUS is therefore one of the highlights of this multifaceted exhibition.
