"Musica Mare - From the sound of the waves" Piano concert on 2 pianos | The sea on black and white keys in works from classical to jazz and into the present and from Bach, Smetana, Bloch, Debussy to Glass, Bob Dylon and Lutz Gerlach and others
For centuries, the sea has been a place of longing for many people and a source of inspiration for artists. In Ahrenshoop, it is not only painters who have been searching for new motifs for over 100 years. The sound of the waves also plays a very special role for the two local pianists Ulrike Mai and Lutz Gerlach. For the eponymous CD "Musica Mare", composer Gerlach tried to transform the sounds of the Baltic Sea into pianistic sound waves and describe the landscape of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst Peninsula with his popular CD "Weststrand". In addition to many "regional references", works from music history on the same theme such as "Undine" by Claude Debussy or the "Poems of the Sea" by Ernest Bloch as well as 4 variations on the well-known song "Wo die Ostseewellen trecken an den Strand" for piano four hands can also be heard.
