"Lost in the Stars" - Piano concerto with 2 pianos & keys
A tribute to the night and the starry sky with works ranging from classical to jazz, rock & pop and from Bach to Debussy & Chopin and from Brubeck to Beatles & Coldplay
Nocturnal moods have always inspired composers of all eras, from Romanticism to the present day. Many people know Frederik Chopin's "Nocturnes", but few people know that the famous jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, for example, also composed such night pieces. The two pianists Ulrike Mai and Lutz Gerlach will present a musical homage to the "starry sky" on two pianos in an atmospheric open-air setting with a canopy for the audience. They will play "stellar moments in music history" from baroque to classical to impressionism as well as rock classics such as "Night in white Satin" by Moody Blues or "A Sky full of Stars" by Coldplay. Lutz Gerlach tries to describe the very special starry sky of Ahrenshoop with his current CD "Da draußen die Sterne". The title piece of the evening is by the composer of the "Threepenny Opera" Kurt Weill.
