is the concert format of the working group "Generation Zukunft", the nationwide cross-genre association of young composers of the German Composers' Association.
The particular aim of the Generation Zukunft working group is to create an interdisciplinary network and collaboration between young creators. In addition to its cultural policy activities in the German Composers' Association, the working group has already realized its vision of a concert project with great success in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Weimar.
The concerts entitled "Future Music" build bridges between different musical genres. Pop songs meet new music, jazz meets film music, neoclassical meets folk. The aim is to appeal to new, young audience segments in particular and to introduce them to different - possibly still unknown - composition styles by experiencing them in concert.
The composers of AG Generation Zukunft can be experienced by the audience both as authors and performers. The line-up already includes vocals, electric bass, accordion, piano, electro-acoustic, trumpet, violin, western and concert guitar.
Furthermore, traditional concert concepts are critically scrutinized in the concerts. It is a particular concern to perform the two concerts in different venues: in a classically oriented concert hall and a popular music venue. In this way, gaps between serious and popular music are closed. A new audience and thus a different atmosphere allow the music of the eight authors to be experienced in a new light. The concerts that have already taken place have also been a great success in this respect.
The "Generation Future" working group was founded at the end of 2020 to promote the interests of young composers within and outside the German Composers' Association. Its current 30 members are aged 20-30 and are at the beginning of their professional artistic careers.
