"The Schwerin of the Grand Dukes. Photographs of the 19th century"
Lecture by Jakob Schwichtenberg
Photography occupies a prominent place among the epoch-making inventions of the 19th century. One of the first cameras reached Schwerin in October 1839, just a few weeks after the new technology was introduced in Paris. Almost at the same time, the cityscape began to change radically. The photographs taken at the same time document this development and at the same time tell the story of everyday life and culture in the 19th century.
