ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY by Jannis Alexander Kiefer (D 2024, 96 min)
The Brandenburg village of Wiesenwalde is turned upside down when an American crew shoots a series about the Second World War there. Mayor Susanne (Meike Droste) senses an opportunity to put her home on the tourism map and defy demographic change. Her son Tobi (Johannes Scheidweiler) is hired as a driver for the crew - even though he doesn't have a driver's license. And then, after years of absence, Bert (Roland Bonjour), a would-be journalist and the mayor's ex-boyfriend, turns up. At the same time, the village elder Rosi (Monika Lennartz) is secretly planning the burial of old ideals - and her own at the same time. When the power fails and a tank is forgotten in front of the town hall, the mammoth project threatens to get out of hand.
JANNIS ALEXANDER KIEFER
Born in Berlin in 1989, he studied "Audiovisual Media" at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences for Technology. From 2016-2023 he studied feature film directing at the Film University Babelsberg. His first-year film COMMENTS, which takes a look at hate on the internet, screened at over 80 festivals worldwide and won the "Short Tiger" award from German Films, among others. His short film COLLEAGUES was shown at the 2021 Max Ophüls Preis festival, among others. ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY is Kiefer's feature film debut and graduation project at the Film University.
