SABBATICAL by Judith Angerbauer (D 2024, 99 min)

Tara (Seyneb Saleh) and Robert (Trystan Pütter) are stuck. They almost split up. To save their relationship, they take some time out with their daughter Nia (Zoë Baier) in Greece. Sun and sea, more time for each other and less work - the two had imagined their stay to be so wonderful. But when the tourists leave and the weather gets rougher, the problems return with a vengeance. When Jonathan (Sebastian Urzendowsky), Robert's little brother, unexpectedly turns up on the doorstep, the situation comes to a head. The sabbatical becomes a baptism of fire for the family.

JUDITH ANGERBAUER

Born in 1977, she worked as an assistant producer and director at various theaters from 1997 before switching to film and making her short film debut with COVER in 2003. From 2004-2006, she wrote the screenplays for MATHILDE LIEBT and DER FREIE WILLE with Matthias Glasner. Her feature film debut as co-director followed in 2013 with the drama SONNENWENDE. As a screenwriter, she has worked on various episodes of TATORT and the series DIE NEUE ZEIT and DAS BOOT (seasons 3 and 4). SABBATICAL, for which Angerbauer also wrote the screenplay, is her first feature film as sole director.
