Evening canoe tour on the Peene and peat bogs near Malchin at midsummer time, experience the landscape and water world at night
Around midsummer, it doesn't get really dark in Mecklenburg Schweiz and Lake Kummerow Nature Park. Although the sun sets at 7:47 pm, dusk lasts well past midnight before dawn breaks shortly after 4 am. The moon is full in the sky at this time, as a waxing crescent.
At this time between the hours, the nature park invites you to go canoeing on the Peene and the peat bogs near Malchin. The landscape and the wonderful water world are then bathed in a mystical twilight. The sounds of the day have fallen silent and the animals of the night can be heard. With a bit of luck, you may even spot beavers, which now emerge. A nature park ranger will tell you lots of interesting facts about beavers and otters, the birdlife on the water, the river and moorland landscape of the Peene and the nature park.
The meeting point is in Malchin at the canoe club "Kösters Eck" (Am Kanal 2, 17139 Malchin). Clothing should be suitable for the weather.
As the number of participants is limited, please register at the nature park on 0385 588 64 830. Please also indicate whether you are coming as a family. This helps us to plan the boat allocation.
There is a charge of 15 euros per participant for the use of the boats.
