with Joya Marleen
Uncertainty hovered over the band as each member took time off to pursue personal projects for the first time in their decade-long career. The uncertainty of whether their paths would cross again has now lifted, as the band announces new live dates for the fall of 2024.
The band will perform on a special acoustic tour at selected venues and concert halls, offering a show that promises to showcase the uniqueness and authenticity of their music. Lead singer Ian Hooper says: "There is no better way to present our music than acoustically, in its purest form. It's a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with our fans - or indeed anyone who loves handmade, authentic music. And so many of the venues are magical".
After brilliant festival appearances at the Reeperbahn Festival, Immergut or Superbloom in Munich, supporting Michael Schulte or Alice Merton and a first partly sold-out tour through German cities in April 2024, the Swiss newcomer of the moment, Joya Marleen, will now accompany the fantastic Mighty Oaks as support on their European tour in October.
She was the first Swiss musician ever to storm to the top of the domestic airplay charts with her debut single "Nightmare" and won three Swiss Music Awards in 2022, with the rare hat-trick of "Best Female Artist", "Best Newcomer" and "Song of the Year". A coup that shines far beyond the borders of her home country. However, this glow is not only due to the chart performance of the tracks, but also to the captivating naturalness of the young musician from St. Gallen, who does not mince her words either in her enthusiasm for her success or in her compositions.
She loves cinematic images and the unusual in the everyday: fantastic hope, quiet kitsch, whimsical metaphors, vast fields, crackling campfires. Her soulful pop meets modern folk - tragic, dreamy lyrics are wrapped up in organic magic that ranges from Taylor Swift to Lana Del Rey.
On stage, she is so highly charming and endearing that she always leaves every single show with plenty of bliss.
