"Southwards" - with the emBRASSment wind quintet from Leipzig
When planning their 2025 anniversary tour, the popular and highly acclaimed Leipzig brass ensemble emBRASSment were delighted to agree to perform at the castle concerts in Ludwigslust. After their successful guest appearance in Ludwigslust in 2015, the program they will present this time is dominated by the rhythmically concise coloring of South American music. The name emBRASSment is playfully derived from two English words: BRASS for brass and embracement for a warm, heartfelt hug.
The ensemble was founded in 2000 by five ambitious music students from Leipzig. Today, the ensemble makes up a significant part of their professional lives with around 50 concerts a year. Since its foundation, emBRASSment has given over 700 concerts. CD productions have also been made. Tours have taken them to Finland and Sweden.
The wide-ranging repertoire of emBRASSment includes relevant original compositions for brass quintet by Victor Ewald, Jan Koetsier, Enrique Crespo, Kerry Turner, Mogens Andresen and others as well as arrangements of works from all eras. Almost all genres are covered, from Monteverdi to Bernstein, from church chorales to ABBA hits. The quintet will celebrate its 25th anniversary at the summer concert in Ludwigslust with a focus on spirited Latin American sounds.
