"Latin Jazz" - With the Henning Schiewer Jazz Quartett
Four of the most exciting musicians on the young North German jazz scene play original compositions and arrangements of standards from jazz and Latin American music. The ensemble's openness and sensitivity ensure captivating interpretation and interaction, in which the joy of playing and improvisation take center stage at every moment.
Saxophonist Christoph Möckel, born in Schwerin, played in the European Jazz Orchestra and was a guest at the Burghausen Jazz Festival, WDR Jazzfest and has already recorded over 20 CDs. He recorded one of these CDs together with Constantin Krahmer, who was also a pianist at Burghausen and is a winner of the Steinway Jazz Prize in the solo piano competition category. The accomplished drummer Johann Gottschling is currently very active in the Berlin jazz scene. The quartet is completed by Henning Schiewer. Originally from Grevesmühlen, he studied electric and double bass in Rostock and Hamburg. He then received a scholarship for the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Back in Europe, he is a sought-after jazz musician for a wide variety of band formations.
The quartet thus offers all of the best skills - all desirable prerequisites for the audience to experience an exciting and rhythm-laden jazz performance.
