Armed with a guitar, harmonica and a "suitcase kick drum", which he built from an old Samsonite suitcase, Friedrich Jr. performs his own songs as well as songs by other German artists!
Behind Friedrich Jr. is the German-speaking singer/songwriter and guitarist Jan Hamann. "I was inspired by my ancestors," explains the North German, "who played the accordion and often had the second name Friedrich." Other influences come from country and bluegrass, and much is reminiscent of Americana in general, although he is not afraid of subtle echoes of chanson or even pop songs, because he combines everything with a truthfulness that ennobles even the wild and profane with beauty.
