Bluegrass from the Baltic Sea coast brings music to the Kurhausgarten Warnemünde.
The Rostock & Warnemünde Tourist Board invites you to a musical afternoon in the Kurhausgarten Warnemünde. On June 26, 2022 with the acoustic string band DÜNENGRASS.
DÜNEN GRASS is a band of 5 musicians who have dedicated themselves to honest, handmade music. Without effects and playback. Five acoustic instruments, polyphonic vocals, performed live. The band has existed since 2017 and emerged from a country band. The departure of one band member and the addition of typical bluegrass instruments such as dobro and double bass resulted in the new style almost by itself. All the musicians come from the greater Rostock area and the Darss.
Dünengras, belongs to our immediate surroundings on the Baltic Sea coast. A reference to our home on the coast. The plant between land and sea stands for our roots and our love of our homeland.
Our musical style is called bluegrass (which is why DünenGrass is spelled with 2 "s") and is American folklore. It originated at the beginning of the 20th century with influences from American immigrants from all parts of the world, but especially from Ireland, Germany, France and the special sounds of the black African population. Bluegrass thus became a melting pot of blues, gospel and folk and certainly had a great influence on the development of current musical styles, especially country music, but also rock'n'roll, with Bill Monroe being the first and best-known representative. He named his band after the shimmering blue grass in Tennessee - bluegrass. It gave its name to an entire musical genre, a music that we love for its melodies, virtuosity and special rhythms. It is traditional and at the same time more topical than ever, because in these times of high volume and endless possibilities of electronic sound processing, handmade acoustic music, sung directly from a wooden instrument with real voices, is becoming interesting again.
Whether in concert or for events and celebrations, Dünengrass enriches every event with rhythm and beautiful melodies, with fun and good humor.
