Immerse yourself in the magical combination of literature and nature!
The "Literary Forest Walk" invites you to experience the beauty of the forest with the power of words. Together, we not only explore the secrets of the forest on a guided walk, but also listen to stories, poems and texts at selected locations that interweave nature, people and imagination.
With an area of almost 2 square kilometers, the Baaber Heide is the largest closed forest area on the island. Former dunes form the subsoil. Today they are overgrown with pines and birches.
I walked in the forest
For myself like this,
And nothing to look for,
That was my purpose.
The forests are silent (Erich Kästner)
The seasons wander through the woods.
You can't see it. You only read it in the leaves.
The seasons roam through the fields.
You count the days. And you count the money.
You long to get away from the clamor of the city.
The sea of roofs makes brick-red waves.
The air is thick and as if made of gray cloth.
You dream of fields and horse stables.
You dream of green ponds and trout.
And you want to visit the silence.
You flee from offices and factories.
It doesn't matter where! The earth is round!
Where the grasses nod like friends
and where the spiders knit silky stockings,
one becomes healthy.
The soul becomes crooked from treading the pavement.
You can talk to trees like brothers
and exchange souls with them.
The forests are silent. But they are not silent.
And whoever may come, they comfort everyone.
