Truth-loving people lie. And not too often. Depending on which expert you believe, 25-200 times a day. To paraphrase President Gerald Ford, you could say that lies are the glue that holds our society together.
And not just in private life, no, in public life too. Even press reports can't get by without it. That's why the popular saying goes: "Lies, as printed.
But because there is less and less truth, there are more and more people who stray off in search of it. And they do so on the Internet, where - as is usually the case - they find it. In fact, the internet is teeming with experts who are in possession of the truth and have by no means just leased it for a short time. So it's no wonder that there's hardly any left for the average consumer.
What should we do? Should the truth be stolen from us? Or should we make do with half the truth, preferably served in slices? The advantage of this is that it is less heavy on the stomach and doesn't cause quite as much irritation. The disadvantage: what is half the truth for one person is the whole lie for another. But what would we gain if everyone always told the truth? Heaven or hell on earth?
Mark Twain once said: "You have to know the facts before you can distort them". So is there truth behind every lie? Get ready for an honest answer.
