"New insights into the origins of the village and church of Ankershagen in the 13th century"
In 1894, the landowner and antiquarian, Andreas Graf von Bernstorff (1837-1906), introduced his chronicle "Zur Geschichte von Ankershagen" with the following words:
"The village of Ankershagen, situated between the towns of Waren, Neustrelitz and Penzlin in the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, with its old buildings and more than six hundred years of history, has attracted the attention of the public on several occasions. The village has attracted the attention of antiquity researchers on several occasions with its old buildings and more than six hundred years of history, and the "Jahrbüchern für Mecklenburgische Geschichte und Alterthumskunde" (Yearbooks for Mecklenburg History and Antiquity) contain various essays dealing with this subject, but do not exhaust it."
130 years later, the antiquity researcher Dr. phil. Sven Müller (born 1972) is investigating the settlement history of the terrae Penzlin on the basis of the documents of the MUB with detectors and drones and by walking the field marks and comparing his findings with what was previously known. With his scientifically sound work, he places the origin of the villages of Ankershagen and Freidorf in the 1240s and thus clarifies the history of these villages.
The lecture, based on these new sources, is an attempt to re-examine existing assumptions about the time of origin of the village and church of Ankershagen, perhaps to answer open questions or even to solve mysteries.
