As part of the special exhibition "The ship was our world. Sailors tell their stories"
Speaker: Detlef Stolz, Rostock
When communication over long distances was only possible via radio waves and Morse code, ships had marine radio operators on board. The radio officers' workplace was on the bridge, from where they established contact between ships or with shore stations.
Detlef Stolz sailed the world's oceans as a radio officer on ships of the Deutsche Seereederei Rostock. In his lecture "As a radio operator on DSR ships" on January 9, 2025, he will not only talk about his special and responsible job, but also tell stories about living together on board the ships.
