Germany 2024, Director/Cinematographer/Editing: Timo Götz, Salina Oudefel, Length: 128 minutes
A song of praise for freedom of travel, hospitality and cosmopolitanism: a family from Bad Schwalbach set off for India and kept a kind of travel diary with a video camera, from which this film was made.
How do you get from tranquil Bad Schwalbach in the Vordertaunus to India? And not as a package tourist or on a study trip? The two authors of this film set themselves this challenge. With their two young daughters in tow, the young couple set off on a 21,000 km journey lasting a year and a half at the end of March 2022. On their eventful trip by land, sea and air, the small family had not booked any of their means of transportation in advance. On their way through Eastern Europe, Turkey and Iran to India, the German couple are welcomed with open arms everywhere they go. Along the way, they pick up a wealth of very interesting landscape shots that are astonishingly professional. But there are also problems: when the heavily pregnant Saline gives birth to her third child, the Indian authorities refuse to allow the newborn to leave the country. There was a suspicion of surrogacy. After ten months of waiting, the family of five finally left the country.
