Everything revolves around the tasty and vitamin-rich "giant berry". You can bring your own pumpkins. The three heaviest specimens will compete for the title of "Pumpkin Giant 2024"! There will be lots of delicious, creative and informative things to do with the colorful garden giant.
The popular pumpkin festival on the large outdoor area at the AGRONEUM attracts visitors to Alt Schwerin on 20 October 2024 from 10 a.m. with activities and a colorful program all about the colorful and impressive pumpkin. Once again this year, the largest and heaviest pumpkin from visitors' gardens will be sought and awarded a prize. It's worth checking the pumpkins in your own garden to see if they are suitable for the competition and plan to transport them to Alt Schwerin. If the pumpkin weighs 25 kg or more, there is free entry for the owner and the prospect of the title "Pumpkin Giant 2024", which will be ceremoniously awarded after the weighing. The title "Pumpkin Giant 2023" was won by the Atlantic Giant of Fiete Stutz from Röbel with 209kg. Can it be beaten again this year?
If you don't grow your own pumpkins, you'll find what you're looking for in the diverse selection at the market stall and can make your choice to take home for cooking pleasure or autumnal decorations. You can also get creative in the pumpkin workshop: Lantern carving, creating figures and colorful handicrafts are on the agenda all day, as are the popular demonstrations by the technical team with the exhibition's historical agricultural machinery.
The dedicated museum team has of course also thought about the physical well-being of all visitors and will be offering many delicious pumpkin variations. Educational information on pumpkin science will also be presented and tasty pumpkin creations from the museum kitchen will be available for extensive tasting and sale.
