The musician Johaenne stands on her fifth-floor windowsill, and the cemetery is conveniently next door. The man she loved so much has disappeared from her life, but her love for him remains. What now? It is night, only the moon can see her, and it has questions.
Johaenne realizes that she is not a suicide and takes her tentative steps towards a new life. But the world is out of joint: a fog covers half the world, fires and swarms of locusts are raging. Johaenne flees the city for the countryside, to her late father's bungalow. She is joined by her new friends Jamal and Shenmi, the pianist Ayo and a small dog. The neighboring house seems threatening, and can the fog really swallow things and living beings forever?
Soon the women are cut off from all information about the outside world. While the fog envelops the house, the four women work out the situation for themselves. In a world where everything disappears, they live in solidarity and love. And Johaenne realizes that she must allow herself to be happy.
