Compositions by Karl May and others Collegium Canticum Dresden (octet of former members of the Kreuzchor)
Born in Saxony, he was the most widely read author in the German language and was imprisoned in Waldheim for four years for a series of minor misdemeanors. During this time, he not only played the institution's organ but also distinguished himself with a series of highly emotional Romantic secular and sacred compositions, which he performed with the institution's choir. The Collegium Canticum Dresden made these collected works available to the public on a CD in 2003. In the concert on July 5th, some of these compositions will be presented, framed by other important Saxon compositions emphasizing the romantic sound.
