Reading & discussion in the series "Exit Games" | Moderation: Martina Bade (Rostock City Library)
Inspired by a true story: from a banker in Zurich to a global accountant for the Calabrian mafia. A smart, exciting novel about an ambivalent heroine
In the 1990s, a young, unassuming woman moves from the provinces of Lower Saxony to Zurich to pursue a career as an investment banker - shortly before marrying her childhood friend: last exit before the one-way street to the fitted kitchen. She gets to know the world of bad banks and realizes how much freedom it gives her to be a woman who is overlooked: Away from legality, she soon invests millions. Finally, she remains silent in court. Others tell her story. What drove her, what did she gain?
Isabelle Lehn, born in Bonn in 1979, now lives in Leipzig and writes narrative and essayistic prose. She holds a doctorate in rhetoric and is the author of the multi-award-winning debut novel "Binde zwei Vögel zusammen" and most recently the novel "Frühlingserwachen". She has received numerous prizes and scholarships, most recently for her essay "Weibliches Schreiben" (S. Fischer hundertvierzehn), which deals with the gender-specific role of authors in the literary world.
