Exhibition, Guided Tours & Tours
Sunday, May 19, 2023 is International Museum Day. A varied program will be offered throughout Germany under the motto #MuseenEntdecken. The Dömitz Fortress Museum is also taking part with a free guided tour.
On the fortress tour, guests learn about the exciting history of the former border fortress on the Elbe, which later became a state penal institution and where Fritz Reuter, the most important Low German poet, spent the last year of his "Festungstid" in 1839 - 1840. Participants will explore the facility both above and below ground.
The tour is free of charge.
