Dr. Blues & Friends
Dr. Blues & friends have been an integral part of the Rostock music scene since 2000. With great skill, the Rostock doctor and musician always brings an interesting mix of musicians to the stage, who jam and make music together. The band's repertoire ranges from folk blues to groovy electric blues and boogie woogie, from Muddy Waters to Jimi Hendrix and Keb' Mo'. But the quiet slow blues also finds its place here.
In a charming way, Dr. Blues knows how to motivate his audience to sing along and even dance, so that there is always a very special, almost familiar atmosphere at the concerts.
In addition to Udo Franke (voc, piano, harp), his "friends" include: Wolfgang Schmiedt (guitar), Olaf Scheffler (drums), Christian Kuzio (bass), Alexander Paschen (tenor saxophone) and Gunnar Stigge (trombone). Thomas Klemm (tenor saxophone) and Jörg Huke (trombone) as well as various special guests on vocals are also frequently present.
The musical career of medical doctor Dr. Udo Franke began at a very early age. After a classical piano education, he played as a 15-year-old in one of the most popular country bands in the Ore Mountains to this day. During his studies in Timisoara, Romania, he accompanied one of the best-known Romanian rock bands: Pro Musica. When he returned to Germany, he dedicated himself to the blues.
