Exhibition with paintings by Hafiza Qasimi from Rostock
Hafiza Qasimi shows photos of her paintings and current works. These are paintings that she painted in Afghanistan and had to burn herself for security reasons and works that were created in Germany. In them, she deals with the lack of rights for women in her home country of Afghanistan. Hafiza Qasimi was born in 1998 in a small village in Afghanistan, "but with great ambitions". She continues: "Being a woman is one of the most difficult challenges in our society. Women often sacrifice their lives for the wishes of society and the people around them. I wanted to go to school and educate myself..." After eight months of waiting in Iran, she was able to leave for Germany in 2023 to start a new life. But she still worries about the girls and women in her country.
The exhibition can be viewed free of charge from January 13 to April 25, 2025 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm, Tuesdays 1pm-4pm and Fridays 9am-12pm.
