Philharmonic Academy
Born 300 years ago, the Saxon electress and composer Maria Antonia Walpurgis is almost forgotten today. The Philharmonic Academy has re-edited several Italian arias from her extensive oeuvre, which are exemplary of her elegant compositional style. Music by her teacher Johann A. Hasse completes the picture of musical life in Dresden around 1750, in contrast to the music composed at the same time for the Prussian court orchestra - not only by the court harpsichordist Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, but by the king himself: A flute concerto by Frederick II can be heard at the historical seat of the court chapel, Rheinsberg, and completes the picture of courtly musical life at the time of the "gallant style". The Philharmonic Academy will perform under the direction of Fabian Enders.
