Who was Knight Herbord von Raven?
Locator, i.e. founder of the city of Neubrandenburg, who had the city built on behalf of the two Margraves of Brandenburg, John I and Otto III, after the Duke of Demmin, Wratislaw, felt compelled to cede the Land of Stargard to the Margraves in 1236 in accordance with the Treaty of Kremmen. Over 30 towns were founded as a result.
The founding charter of Neubrandenburg was issued by John I in Spandau on January 4, 1248. Knight Herbord von Raven was subsequently also the town's mayor.
