Who is Dodo Freiherr von Innhausen and zu Knyphausen?
He was commissioned by the Swedish king to defend the city of Neubrandenburg against Tilly's attacks during the Thirty Years' War. He entered the service of King Gustav II Adolf (Wasa) of Sweden in 1629.
Despite the lack of artillery, he held the city for days against the superior forces of the Imperial army, which nevertheless fell to Tilly after a great slaughter. Gustav rewarded him for his services with the fortress of Klempenow. As commander of the Swedish troops, he fell in the Battle of Haselünne in 1636.
