with Dr. Bernd Schimpke
In 1993, the collector Dr. Bernd Schimpke travelled to the Curonian Spit, which is now Russian and Lithuanian territory, for the first time. He devoted himself with great passion to the painters who worked in what was then Nidden between the two world wars. When he was offered a picture by the painter Carl Knauf for sale, he seized it without hesitation - the beginning of the "Paintings of the Nidden Artists' Colony" collection was made.
Dr. Bernd Schimpke will guide you through the exhibition and explain his personal relationship to the works in his collection. During the tour, a spontaneous dialog with the visitors can arise, so that the tour can vary between 1-1.5 hours.
