On Wednesdays, the staff of the Ahrenshoop spa administration will guide you through the Baltic resort of Ahrenshoop and tell you interesting facts about the past and present. Registration required by calling 038220 666610.
Every Wednesday, the Ahrenshoop spa administration invites both newcomers and "old hands" to an informative walk through the resort. Guests are introduced to history, traditions and the special features of nature in an entertaining way. There are interesting facts about coastal protection, cane roofs, the woodworm and the discovery of Ahrenshoop as an artists' village.
The three employees of the spa administration, who take turns each week to introduce guests to the special features of the town, will take you on a 2.5-hour excursion along paths that are often a little off the beaten track. In line with the famous Goethe quote: "You only see what you know", the background knowledge imparted often produces the well-known "aha" effect.
The hike takes you to the Grenzweg and the studio in the Dornenhaus. Here you can take a look at the beautiful Fischland ceramics.
On the walk through the village, guests learn about the naming of the Romantikhotel Namenlos and the founding of the many painting schools and the art cathedral. They find out why the sails of the Zees boats are brown. It is also revealed that the coloring of these sails with oxblood can be categorized as Läuschen, which is Low German and means something like anecdote. After a look inside the Schifferkirche, whose interior is reminiscent of a ship floating on its keel, the walk ends.
