Guided tour with Dr. Angela Pfennig | Participation: 7 Euro
Life is reflected in death.
Cemeteries are places to remember the past, to reflect on the present and to think about the future. They are part of a city's memory.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Old and New Franconian Cemeteries were laid out on Frankendamm, far from the gates of the city of Stralsund, and their cultural-historical, garden-historical and urban planning significance is little known to the public. Since their closure for burials, the former burial grounds have been transformed into urban green spaces.
During a tour, the question of how to deal with historical cemeteries as a source of knowledge about our culture will be explored. The Franconian cemeteries are the burial places of numerous personalities whose work has influenced the intellectual, economic and political life of this city. Some of them will be honored with biographical notes.
