Songwriter pop for dreaming and dancing
Fräulein Frey is a northern light with a penchant for depth. Wherever she appears, it becomes soulful, poetic and full of energy. Her German-language songwriter pop is characterized by charming word painting, catchy melodies and a multi-faceted voice that hits the heart. She celebrates the delicate as well as the impulsive, loves finely picked guitars and a rich band sound. She and her band last wowed the audience at the NDR Funkhaus concert in Schwerin in November 2024.
Having grown up in a village on the Mecklenburg Baltic Coast, Steffi Böhnke aka Fräulein Frey first found her way to music via detours and then found a second home in urban Hamburg. With the release of her debut album "Hallo Leben" (2017), she founded her own label and followed up with a second album "Ein Wagnis" in 2022. The musician has always remained connected to her rural roots. Now she is moving back.
Her latest release "Hier draußen" longs for the vastness of the horizon and carries the eternal sound of the Baltic Sea. For the production of this and another song entitled "Das Schönste bist du", she and her band went to Schwerin's "Studio 2" in 2024. The connection between Hamburg and Mecklenburg is also reflected in the Fräulein Frey Band, which is made up of musicians from both regions. A perfect, playful match that provides goosebumps and great energy.
