Ballet evening by Craig Davidson, Ana Isabel Casquilho, Juanjo Arqués and Jonathan dos Santos with music by Max Richter after Antonio Vivaldi
For the first dance premiere of the season, the Company Ballett Schwerin is devoting itself to The Four Seasons. In his newly composed version of the famous work, the British composer Max Richter complements Antonio Vivaldi's music with modern instrumentation and electronic sounds that enhance its emotional power.
In the cycle of nature, each season also corresponds to a particular emotional state, which is the focus of the respective choreographies. Spring stands for renewal and hope as nature awakens from winter. Summer symbolizes abundance, energy and a thirst for adventure; everything radiates vitality and joie de vivre. Autumn marks the transition, characterized by reflection, loss and change as nature slowly withdraws its life force. Winter embodies stillness, retreat and survival as nature rests and prepares for spring. Each phase brings its own challenges, but together they create a harmonious cycle of growth, maturity, transience and new beginnings.
