Caracou - the name stands for gypsy swing from Germany. Music that gets you moving and makes you want to dance.
The Dresden band around singer Jana Pöche takes us into a world of swing music, French chanson and jazz of the Manouche, as the Sinti are called in French. Her songs tell of Parisian neighborhoods, New York impressions, nights in the desert, new and fading love - of everyday things, feelings about life and sometimes completely new ways of looking at the world.
the repertoire ranges from pieces by great artists of days gone by such as Django Reinhardt, Peggy Lee and Duke Ellington to gypsy jazz adaptations of pieces from other genres (e.g. by Cindy Lauper) and her own titles. The well-balanced mixture of sensitive arrangements and improvisational freedom captivates the audience and lets them forget the time for a summer evening.
In Groß Kiesow, Caracou will present their current CD "pas à pas" and play their own new pieces.
