June 21 is the longest day of the year and the beginning of summer - two great occasions to come together. All over Europe and beyond, people celebrate music in all its facets on this day - at the Fête de la Musique, the "Festival of Music". In the anniversary year 2025, to mark the 777th anniversary of the city, this festival is now also being held for the first time in the four-gate city of Neubrandenburg.
Free and outdoors
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the city center will be transformed into a giant stage. From 16:00 - 22:00, musicians will perform on streets, squares and in courtyards, turning the day into a unique experience for everyone. For the premiere, there will probably be five different locations where music and performances can be presented and enjoyed, including the inner courtyard of the Regional Museum as well as areas in Stargarder Straße, Turmstraße and Wartlaustraße. Musical styles of all kinds are possible, as well as theater, dance and other performances. There are no limits to artistic diversity. Small and large artists, amateurs or professionals, soloists, bands, ensembles, orchestras or even DJs are welcome.
Call to artists - register now
Interested artists can now register for a performance at Neubrandenburg's Fête de la Musique via www.neubrandenburg.de/fete. All registrations received by 15 March will be reviewed by the organization team and incorporated into a programme.
The Fête de la Musique is a public event. There is no admission charge for guests and no fee for the artists. It thrives on the commitment of everyone - the musical and music-listening people of our four-gate city. So everyone is invited to take part - whether on stage or in the audience in front of it.
Background
The Fête de la Musique was launched in Paris in 1982 by the then French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang. The one-day music festival on June 21 has become increasingly popular in other European countries, after initially being held primarily in its country of origin, France, Belgium and Switzerland. The Fête de la Musique is now celebrated in 120 countries and 1,000 cities around the world. In Germany, the Fête de la Musique began its triumphal march from Berlin in 1995 and is now celebrated in around 50 other German cities and communities. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, it was celebrated in Greifswald, Neustrelitz and Rostock in 2024.
Neubrandenburg's Fête de la Musique is organized by Studio am See e.V., Stadtmagneten e.V. and the four-gate city of Neubrandenburg.
