LENA KAAPKE - GRADIENTS
The Kiel-based sculptor and conceptual artist Lena Kaapke (*1989) works primarily, but not exclusively, in the medium of installative ceramics. Her works are subjective surveys: In cartographic explorations, she approaches diverse topics such as population growth, environmental destruction, craftsmanship, working conditions or ceramic color.
Gradients describe the change of a variable in relation to spatial parameters. Gradients are scales, fixed descriptions of movement in space. The exhibition Gradients shows the artist's subjective measurements of color, relationships and distribution. Her surveys become space and image.
Kaapke's works have been exhibited internationally and have received numerous awards. Since 2021, she has been one of the youngest artists to be represented in the Federal Government's Federal Collection of Contemporary Art.
