Reading by Benet Lehmann in cooperation with the Commissioner for Jewish Life in MV
The historian Benet Lehmann will be reading from his book "Esthers Spuren" as part of the series "Antisemitismus die Stirn bieten" ("Standing up to anti-Semitism") organized by the Commissioner for Jewish Life and Against Anti-Semitism in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
In his non-fiction book, Lehmann deals with the story of Shoah survivor Esther Bejarano and her fight against right-wing extremism. He explores the question of what role the legacy of contemporary witnesses plays and who remembers whom and why. The book discusses whether and how a culture of remembrance can help to put a stop to anti-Semitism and racism
