City tour Rostock-KTV: Of inventors, murderers, students and delicacies
The Kröpeliner Tor, one of formerly more than 20 city gates of Rostock, gives its name to this lively university district full of exciting stories. On our three-hour city tour, we follow the development of this colorful district from a rural mill site to the urban present.

In contrast to the core city, which looks back on more than 800 years of city law, the area of today's KTV was undeveloped for a long time and characterized by meadows, gardens and ponds. This changed when, from the middle of the 19th century, shipowning families, millers and workers from the emerging shipyard industry settled the area. Today, Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt is a dynamic neighborhood of student:ins with numerous charming little stores, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

The beautiful facades hide interesting anecdotes about important personalities and mysterious stories about crimes of past times. Find out what the district has to do with the invention of the beach chair, what the working-class neighborhood used to look like, and what made KTV particularly parent-friendly early on.

On our guided tour through one of Rostock's most interesting neighborhoods, we will stop at carefully selected culinary partners whose diversity defines today's trendy district. We invite you to a culinary discovery tour of contrasts: from a traditional business to a modern delicatessen bistro, from a posh garden plot to a working-class apartment, from the frowned-upon night-jacket district to the city's most sought-after residential area. Let the delicious specialties surprise you!

A selection of exciting culinary stops awaits you on your tour, for example:

  • a discovery for beer connoisseurs
  • a sweets paradise with a recipe for wanderlust
  • a butcher's store with tradition
  • a lively clothing café
  • a family Russian bistro

Note: The stops and tastings may be changed at short notice.
