The Easter Vigil is traditionally a special time in the church year - between death and resurrection, darkness and light, mourning and new joy. In the early church, people who had decided to become Christians after a period of instruction were usually baptized on the Easter Vigil. The old custom of the Easter bonfire shows how the light shines anew in the darkness of death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate the Easter Vigil in the chapel of St. Jürgen and then outside by the fire.
