Duchess Sophia of Lübz

Sophia of Mecklenburg vs Wallenstein - RELOADED was the title theme of the exhibition at Rehna Monastery 2023.

War and pandemic in the days of the ancients: Sophia of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf, Duchess of Mecklenburg, lived from 1592 to 1634. After the suicide of her husband, the 23-year-old mother moved into the Lübzer Eldenburg with the future dukes. She developed her widowhood into an economic success and was a prudent politician. Here in Lübz, discreet meetings were held with allies against Wallenstein, with the Prussians or the Swedish king - "Visit of the Lion of Midnight". The upcycled version of the town silhouette with grains and textile "3t Mist" shows a lesser-known danger of war: 3000 kg of excrement produced daily by the army. Upcycling is a worldwide movement against littering and for the longer use of things, about which Theek has written the book "Stand der Dinge".

The collages in the south window of the window art gallery "superfantasticminimal" are also given more depth in a double sense by antique artifacts. The artist further developed the coats of arms of the opponents in her drawings. A work on the subject of witch-hunts shows that Mecklenburg was not only a victim. The church found other "culprits" for the suicide of the sovereign. The installations on the Duchess's "dual role" as regent, manager and mother are very contemporary. The work "Verbindungsfehler" ("Connection error") deals with disinformation. And "Battlefield" shows spray-painted partisans - Wallenstein was stabbed to death by his own men with a weapon like this in 1634. Sophia died just six months later, but her descendants ruled Mecklenburg and half of Europe through marriage, including as Queen Luise of Prussia. Nevertheless, the regent, politician, mother of three and manager who excelled in her offices is still largely unknown.
