Jazz & Chanson, Scene & Trends

The band's repertoire ranges from folk blues to groovy electric blues and boogie-woogie. But the quiet slow blues also finds its place here.

The musical career of medical doctor Dr. Udo Franke began at a very early age. After classical piano training, he played in one of the most popular country bands in the Ore Mountains at the age of 15. During his studies in Timisoara, Romania, he accompanied one of the best-known Romanian rock bands: Pro Musica. When he returned to Germany, he dedicated himself to the blues.
Dr. Blues & friends have been an integral part of the Rostock music scene for 22 years now. With great skill, the Rostock doctor and musician always brings an interesting mix of musicians to the stage, who jam and make music together. The show is often enriched by guests who like to join in the musical action.
The band's repertoire ranges from folk blues to groovy electric blues and boogie woogie. But the quiet slow blues also finds its place here.
In a charming way, Dr. Blues knows how to motivate his audience to sing along and even dance, so that a very special atmosphere always arises at the concerts.
In addition to Udo Franke (voc, piano, harp), the band's "friends" are: Wolfgang Schmiedt (guitar), Olaf Scheffler (drums), Christian Kuzio (bass), Alexander Paschen and Gunnar Stigge (trombone).
