DONOHUE & WENDLING

New Orleans Style -

Donohue & Wendling are Ryan Donohue, guitar and vocals, and Klaas Wendling, double bass and harmony vocals. The two met in the early 2000s during the studio recordings for "Take a butcher's knife" (Marc Breitfelder and Ryan Donohue). Two decades later, they founded their own band - both now established artists - Donohue & Wendling. The mood of Donohue & Wendling is poetic, the songs get under your skin. Blues and swing, jazz and American folk form the sound of this duo. Their music is dedicated to the whole range of human emotions: Donohue & Wendling interpret love, longing, suffering and happiness with their own New Orleans style.

Ryan Donohue is a quiet star who does not push himself into the limelight. The thoroughbred musician from New Jersey (USA) is committed to a sound ideal that lies somewhere between Ry Cooder and Keb Mo'. As a child, he was influenced by visits to his extended family in Manhattan: Irish immigrants who had music in their DNA. Barely of age, he was drawn to the colorful music scene of New Orleans, where he developed into a prominent sideman on countless recordings as a guitarist and singer. Ryan Donohue, who has received numerous awards to date, is a regular guest at renowned international festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Amals Blues Festival in Sweden, the Blues Balls Festival in Lucerne and the Blues Festival Basel.

Klaas Wendling is internationally known as the double bass player of The Baseballs, whose debut album "Strike" reached number one in the charts in several European countries and who received the ECHO Award in 2010 & 2011. International tours have taken Klaas Wendling to prominent venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, Circus Djurgården in Stockholm and the Cumbre de Tajín Festival in Mexico. His characteristic slapping and swinging sound, inspired not only by classic blues and New Orleans bassists but also by his mentor, jazz legend Greg Cohen, makes him one of the most sought-after double bass players on the German blues scene.
