Book premiere & reading with Isabel Bogdan as part of the 23rd Ahrenshooper Literaturtage
A novel about a flat-sharing community in which four people of different ages live together for different reasons and come to realize that friends are sometimes better than family: Friends are sometimes the better family.
After separating from her partner, Constanze moves into a shared flat with Jörg, Murat and Anke. What was initially intended as a temporary solution turns out to be increasingly stable. There is Jörg, who owns the apartment and is becoming increasingly forgetful; Anke, who as a middle-aged actress is hardly ever booked and is suddenly no longer the only woman in the flat share; and Murat, who simply doesn't want to worry and whose zest for life has a rousing and sometimes enervating effect on the others. As a new arrival, Constanze causes a major shift in the previous tectonics. All four have their own dreams and aspirations and at some point have to face the question of whether they are a purely functional flat share or a family of choice.
In this masterfully composed, lively and humorous novel, four fundamentally different people have their say, each of whom has to readjust their life plans in their own way.
