Come to the water with us! The vacation highlight for the young family
DLRG/NIVEA beach parties in 42 German seaside resorts!
Hamburg / Bad Nenndorf - As every year, the German Lifesaving Society and its partner NIVEA will transform your beach into a big, colorful Eldorado for more safety in and around the water and in the sun in 2024. 90 young lifeguards are on their way to visit vacationers and locals in 42 seaside resorts on the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. They are carrying lots of interesting facts about water, learning to swim and sun protection. The tour starts on 14 July on the beautiful island of Amrum in Norddorf.
Under the motto "Seahorses for everyone", lifeguards playfully introduce parents and children to safe behavior in and around the water, an important topic. "In a relaxed vacation atmosphere, we playfully draw attention to the rules of swimming, learning to swim and sun protection so that children and parents can enjoy their beach vacation today and in the future without any worries," explains tour leader Maiken Stolze.
In addition to tips on learning to swim and the rules of the water, the three-hour free beach festivals focus on fun: beach festival visitors of all ages can let off steam on a bouncy castle, experience first-hand at other stations what is important for learning to swim, do a puzzle of the rules of the water, try out real life-saving equipment or learn first aid techniques. The effect of good sun protection can also be experienced: a UV camera impressively shows how the sun's rays affect our skin. For example, visitors can find out how important UV protection is, which sun protection products are best suited to their individual skin type and when it is time to reapply sunscreen.
In the stage program, young and old beach festival visitors can enjoy a puppet show, take part in a seal race and go on a journey to the sea with colourful swinging cloths. For a small donation to the DLRG, visitors can go on a beach festival discovery tour and have the chance to win great prizes by answering tricky questions at the stations.
At the end of the beach festival, NIVEA beach balls are handed out to visitors. They briefly transform the beach into a blue sea. "It's a fascinating sight every time," reports Stolze. "So many shining children's eyes when our young visitors receive their ball and can take it home with them, of course."
Incidentally, to ensure that the DLRG can also ensure safety in and around the water outside of the beach festival season, NIVEA doubles the donations collected at the end of each year. In 2023, more than 10,000 euros were collected in this way. So far, a total of 181 lifeboats have been purchased and put into the service of the DLRG.
