Dieter "Maschine" Birr is undoubtedly a rock legend: More than 22 million records sold
recordings, over 4,500 concerts in 21 countries, around 500 self-written songs and the ECHO
the ECHO for lifetime achievement. Many of the songs he has composed have
become classics and are regarded as the soundtrack to the lives of several generations. This applies not only
to his successful times with the Puhdys, but also to his solo albums.
His most recent reached number 4 in the official album charts in January 2023.
The charismatic musician is now 80 years young. Reason enough to look back on his childhood and youth as well as his soon-to-be 60-year music career.
