the language artist Jessy James LaFleur
Jessy James LaFleur is a wanderer between worlds and cultures. On her many stages, she has been able to look at life from all sides, has been personally affected or been a sensitive eyewitness. The East Belgian spoken word artist, author and rapper is a seismograph of society and has processed her experiences in her poetic works, which shake hearts and minds in equal measure. She speaks about what we often only feel and cannot put into words.
Her texts are about leaving, but also about arriving, about lived activism, about the people in the East and about the longing for a fairer world. The audience experiences a poet who firmly believes that there is more in this world that unites us than divides us. And she reminds us of the power that lies within us.
The multi-award-winning artist is a guest in Schwerin as part of the worldwide UN campaign Orange Days, which is directed against violence against women.
