The ladies' barrel festival offers a colorful program with (children's) barrel knocking, coffee & cake, pony rides, bouncy castle and an atmospheric barrel ball in the evening!
The buoy-kicking is an equestrian game with a centuries-old tradition and is one of the oldest customs of the Darß villages. Since 2016, the buoy-knocking has been on the national list of intangible cultural heritage. Each village has its own buoy association, which organizes its own annual buoy festivals.
In 2019, Born set a new example with the "Damen Tonnenfest" e. V. association. Only women ride at this barrel festival. We have thus created our own, contemporary approach to the tradition. With this step, we want to give more women the opportunity to actively participate in this traditional event.
